Early reports are showing app store success in China

Although I have yet to find out what content restrictions the Chinese government has placed on the chinese App store, early reports are indicating that it seems like the app store there is very popular. This is surprising after we reported on the price of an iPhone in China last week. However, after some more investigation both on the internet and through some contacts in China I found out that for a while now there has been a HUGE black market for iPhones in China. This is actually kind of funny because at the time iPhone were made in China, shipped outside of China, and then eventually smuggled right back in for sale on the Chinese black market. Clever hackers in China, or any teenager who can scrounge the internet for the unlocking tool, then would simply unlock the iPhone from the restricted carrier.

However, with the average chinese citizen still making $1,290 a year, it makes you wonder how much these iPhone are going for even on the chinese black market and how anyone can afford them...
