Wireless Charging: Powermat Home Charging Pad
The iPhone and iPod touch are wonderful devices, but where Apple is reluctant to adopt some technologies, other companies have stepped in to pick up the slack. With the increased screen size and multiple radios, the iPhone and iPod touch unfortunately need to be charged an embarrassing multiple times a day. What makes it more embarrassing is that you have to plug your shiny slick device into a dangly wire requiring wall outlet to charge it. That is why wireless charging is a must have for any iPhone or iPod Touch user.
After fitting a receiver case on your device and setting up your charging station, all you need to do is place your device on the charging pad and it starts charging automatically. There are no wires and no adapters to click into place--just charging when placed on the pad. Its that easy.
The reason I chose to single out Powermat in this article is because they seem to have the highest quality charging pad and receiver cases on the market right now (I have tested a few companies wireless charging pads). To be honest though, that means the whole set is a little pricey. But as you can guess, I think its all quite worth it. To make the most out of the whole unit, you can get multiple receivers for multiple devices such as the iPhone, iPod touche, iPod, Blackberry and Nintendo DS. When you have multiple receivers you can charge up to three devices at the same time--saving a whole munch of wires and space. For instance, my wife and I charge an iPhone, iPod touch and Blackberry all on our single charging pad. Not only does this solve the simple annoyance of plugging your device into a charger, but it also saved on outlet space and reduces wire clutter. All in all a great feature to add to your touch enabled Apple device.
This is a great video explaining it all from Powermat.
