Last night I attended a Pepcom showcase where I met with the guys from Viper remote start systems. They showed me their app store program that lets you start your car from anywhere as long as you are connected to the internet.
Now usually there isn't much difference between the iPhone and iPod touch except the phone itself. But the more I thought about it, the more I see that for some use specific programs such as a car start, you really need to have internet connectivity anywhere. I mean do you really want to walk around looking for WiFi so that you can start your car via your iPod Touch? The only real solution is if the Viper people put a wireless router in the car with their system so that you can connect to the network of your car and unlock it when in the cars vicinity. While I know that would create security issues, it would open up their system to millions of iPod Touch users.
So, are there more always-on-internet requiring apps out there?
