$$$Red Herring is reporting that the cost of an iPhone 3GS in China without contract (how most cell phones are sold there) is a whopping $1,168. While the average YEARLY salary in China is only $1,290. Even the top 10% of China, which makes $7,000 YEARLY, can't even come close to affording the iPhone. It almost makes you wonder why Apple is even bothering to offer it.
